Digital Lab showcases top quality students to recruiters

Over 500 students from across the University attended a Summer Careers Fair which was hosted by The Digital Lab. The fair was organised by the Centre for Student Careers and Skills for Warwick undergraduates and Msc students who are considering their career options or may be seeking employment upon graduation this year.

Philip Sale, Employer Liaison Officer for the University, said “The summer careers fair was a great success for students and employers alike. The event was designed to bring together students who had not yet secured employment with employers who may have differing needs to those of a traditional graduate recruitment programme, or vacancies still to fill. Feedback from students had suggested that there was a real need for support at this time of year in securing employment and the ongoing demand for talented Warwick students across a wide range of employers ensured the event proved to be very successful”

The fair had 25 companies exhibiting from large global businesses such as IBM to local SMEs looking to retain graduates and their knowledge within the West Midlands region. Coventry City Council was also in attendance highlighting their “Enterprising Coventry” project, which is seeking to place students with local businesses on a 6 month placement with a view to an offer of permanent employment.

We shall be keeping in touch with all the companies that made links with students to ensure as many of our graduates find positions locally as possible.

The event which was seen as a great success and plans are already afoot for a repeat of the fair in 2011.
