European Manufacturing Strategies Summit 2007(EMS' 2007), Dusseldorf, Germany

Professor Ceglarek chaired the 3rd European Manufacturing Strategies Summit 2007(EMS’2007) held on October 4-5 in Dusseldorf.  The EMS’2007 is “Europe’s leading strategic-level manufacturing summit.”Professor Ceglarek also conducted a master class on Digital Product Lifecycle Management: retooling manufacturing by bridging design, production and product field issues. He also facilitated a panel discussion on European Manufacturing 2020.  The panel included Mr Philip Bergel, VP Industrial Systems Future Programmes, AIRBUS; Learie Attzs, Supply Chain Academy Director, Unilever; and Dr Christof Spathelf, Head of Manufacturing Overseas, Volkswagen.

2007 World Congress on Engineering, London, UK

Professor Ceglarek co-chaired the 2007 World Congress on Engineering (WCE’2007) which took place in London from July 2-4. WCE 2007 is composed of the 15 conferences related to engineering developments in Europe.  Prof Ceglarek was also an honorary co-chair of the 2007 International Conference of Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering Management.The WCE 2007 is organised by the International Association of Engineers (IAENG), a not-for-profit international association for engineers and computer scientists. The conference focuses on frontier topics in theoretical and applied engineering and computer science issues. The WCE conferences serve as platforms for members and the entire engineering community to meet with each other and to exchange ideas. The last IAENG conference attracted more than one thousand participants from over 30 countries.

ManuFUTURE

Professor Ceglarek will represent the UK on the ManuFUTURE High Level group and as a member of the Support Level Group. ManuFUTURE is the premier technology platform in Europe with a central mission to propose a strategy based on research and innovation, capable of speeding up the rate of industrial transformation in Europe, securing high added value employment and winning a major share of world manufacturing output in the future knowledge-driven economy. Specifically, it is aimed at developing a research and innovation strategy based on a long term vision for a field where there are many technological and economic variables and in consequence to assist the transformation of the European manufacturing industry towards a knowledge-based economy and the achievement of a world leadership in manufacturing.  ManuFUTURE co-ordinates EU and national, regional and local R&D Programmes to reach a critical mass, develop a long term strategy where Research and Technology Development will be core elements including education and training priorities.  For more information, visit http://www.manufuture.org/
