The 2011 conference theme focused on


Empirical research on language testing impact:
Teaching, learning and the broader test context


The Language Testing Forum is organised by the Research Group

English Language Learning, Teaching, and Assessment (ELLTA)

at the Centre of Applied Linguistics, University of Warwick.

Opening Talk: Liz Hamp-Lyons gave the Opening Talk on Friday evening on What do we know now about impact??

Closing Talk: Jo Fond Lam (CINOP, The Netherlands) gave the Closing Talk on Sunday morning on Language Tests for Immigrants to the Netherlands.

Panel discussion: We had a very interesting panel discussion on Language tests for immigration purposes. A summary of the key issues raised will be provided here shortly.


Beginning: Friday, 5.30pm: registration, followed by the opening talk

End: Sunday, 1.15pm



BAAL TEA SIG held a one-day conference preceding the Language Testing Forum 2011 on the theme of 'Innovative approaches to language testing research'. The conference will take place on Friday, 18 November 2011 from 10-17 at the University of Warwick, Westwood Campus. Accommodation

Accommodation was provided at our Scarman Conference Centre.


Conference Dinner

There was a three-course Gala Dinner at Scarman Friday night,
generously sponsored by Trinity College London.


We had a Drinks Reception on Friday, sponsored by Oxford University Press.


We organised a dinner off campus for Saturday night. The University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations sponsored 24 student dinners.
