Opportunities and events

A combined academic and social student experience

We encourage all students in the Department to get involved with as many activities as you can in order to maximise your Warwick experience.

We place great importance on your student experience and we put on regular activities and events which are both academically stimulating and socially enriching.

Graduate Student-Staff Liaison Committee (GSSLC)

The GSSLC exists to provide a forum for staff and students to discuss issues relating to all graduate courses taught by the Department. It is an integral part of the process by which potential problems are identified and resolved, students' views are represented within the Department and a mechanism for gauging students' opinion on academic matters. Please consider nominating yourself or a friend to be a student representative on GSSLC via the Student Union Elections web pages.

Warwick Economics Society

Established in 1981, the Warwick Economics Society is one of the longest standing academic societies on campus with a current membership of nearly 1500 undergraduate and postgraduate members of all disciplines, ages and interests.

Its aim is to give members a diverse range of events that helps them to progress not only academically but also along their chosen career path. Alongside this, the society hosts socials on campus and boasts some of the strongest sports teams in Warwick, providing opportunities to get involved with football and netball in the earlier terms and cricket and mixed rounders later on.

Warwick Economics Summit

The Warwick Economics Summit is one of the largest student-run academic conferences in Europe, involving world-renowned figures, engaging debates and educational workshops. It touches on a range of global issues including politics, development, finance and psychology and is an opportunity for anyone with an interest in economic affairs and politics to discuss the latest worldwide developments.

In the past, the summit has hosted leading academics such as George Akerlof and John Nash, along with key policy makers such as Vince Cable and Andrew Bailey. The weekend offers the chance to meet and learn from a truly diverse group of students, and to socialise with delegates from around the world at our black tie ball.

We are fully student run and encourage you to apply to join our successful and highly diverse team. Being involved is a great way to get to know people who share similar interests, whilst developing key skills. We have many social activities to develop friendships and memorable shared experiences, so if you would like to join the team, look out for more information from us in term one or visit us at the freshers fair.
