Students' Question Time 2014



Your chance to continue the debate.

The Department of Economics hosted its first Question Time event on campus in September 2013, providing University of Warwick students and staff with the opportunity to engage with politicians, policy makers and academics. It was a huge success, with many demands made for follow-up events.

Students' Question Time will allow students to debate on some of the topics raised from our Question Time event, which is being held on Monday 29 September 2014.

Students' Question Time will take place on Monday 3rd November 2014, 4.30-6.00pm. We are looking for 3 undergraduate students, based in the Department of Economics, to join Professor Abhinay Muthoo on the panel. If you're comfortable debating on current issues in front of a large audience, then please submit a panel application below.

Question Time 2013

In 2013 Warwick Economics hosted its first Question Time which saw Lord Gus O'Donnell (Former Cabinet Secretary), Rt. Hon Jacqui Smith (Former Home Secretary) and Douglas Carswell (Conservative MP) join Professor Abhinay Muthoo and Professor Nigel Thrift for a lively debate on topics ranging from Immigration to Economic Reform to the EU referendum.

The Panellists

Abhinay Muthoo is the Head of Department of Economics and Co-director of Warwick Policy Lab.

His research interests include conflict and negotiations, international development, and public policy.


Event Chair

Siobhan Benita is the Chief Policy and Strategy Officer of Department of Economics and Co-director of Warwick Policy Lab.

She is a former senior Civil Servant who ran as an independent candidate in the 2012 Mayor of London election.
