360 Guest Lecture - Vinay Gupta Lecture

On Monday 29 January 2018, Virtual Futures in partnership with Vinay Gupta, the co-founder of Mattereum delivered a talk, as part of the 360 Lecture Series, on the topic of blockchain and cryptocurrency, giving an insight into its history and the future. The topic proved to be popular attracting an audience of over 450 students and staff.

Commenting after the lecture, Vinay stated "I really enjoyed speaking to the students and staff of the economics and other departments, about the blockchain, history, and our future in space. I did not expect so many people to attend, and the conversations after the event were fascinating and stimulating. A really good event, thanks everybody!"

Students' Question Time

The Students' QT 2018 was held on 22 January 2018 with six selected students from Economics, PPE and Politics joining the Chair Claudia Rei to discuss current affairs. Our student panelists argued about a range of topical issues such as whether social media was the root cause of intolerance to other cultures and religions, the rise of populism on both sides of the Atlantic and its effect on neoliberal world order and whether the UK government should withdraw Trump's invitation for a state visit.

The video is currently being edited and will be live on the Department's Youtube channel.
