Scientists develop mathematical equation that can predict momentary delight: Professor Andrew Oswald comments on new study on BBC News.

“We are all creatures of comparisons and are thus prisoners of implicit expectations." Prof. Andrew Oswald.

Scientists have developed a mathematical equation that can predict happiness related to performance in risk-reward tasks. The study, led by Dr Robb Rutledge from University College London, has generated a mathematical equation which will enable us to gain a better understanding of how happy we are in general. Commenting on the study, Professor Andrew Oswald told the BBC that this research shows that our immediate sense of happiness is dependent upon the discrepancy between what we achieve and what we expect to achieve.
