Warwick Economics PhD Conference brings together PhD students from across the globe

On 17 and 18 February, the Department of Economics hosted the fourth edition of the Warwick Economics PhD Conference.

This annual event is run and organised by PhD students from the department, and brings together PhD students from around the world to present and discuss research at the frontier of all major fields of economics.

In this year’s edition, we were delighted to welcome 18 presenters as well as 18 discussants and poster presenters, all from top institutions in the US, Israel and Europe. The atmosphere was open and friendly without loss of academic rigour, and allowed the conference to live up to its slogan of “fostering dialogue, shaping frontiers”.

A well organised and enriching conference. Very high level, and also very nice people.
Gabriel Facchini, European University Institute
I have benefited a lot from discussions with the attendees. It is good to know some wonderful peers who are working in the same field and their interesting work.
Yang Huang, Paris School of Economics and The World Bank

The organising team for the event were Paula Lopez-Peña, Eric Melander, Martina Miotto and Ayush Pant and about the event, they said they "were very pleased with the quality of presenters and the in-depth discussion which followed each presentation.

We believe that the Warwick PhD Conference should aim to be a forum for young academics where innovative, rigorous research and the creation of fruitful dialogue are of first-order importance. The conference truly achieved that goal".
