Institution for Electrical Engineers – The Institution for Electrical Engineers is an international organisation for electronic, electrical, manufacturing and IT professionals. There is a specific careers and education section which has vacancy information, professional registration and educational information targeted at young people. There are also links for policy makers and access to an engineers network.
Manufacturing Advisory Service – The Manufacturing Advisory Service site is designed to help UK manufacturers, large and small, identify sources of manufacturing related support.
Manufacturing Foundation – The Manufacturing Foundation is a not-for-profit think tank that researches manufacturing issues and provides policy advice. There are reports which can be ordered from the website plus organisational case studies and information on programmes targeted at those interested in joining the sector.
Process Industries Centre for Manufacturing Excellence – PICME is a government funded programme that helps UK based manufacturing organisations improve. The website has information on the organisations it has been involved with, useful web links and a report on the process industries.
Proskills – The proposed Process and Manufacturing Sector Skills Council. Their sector definition is manufacturers of coatings and inks, extractives and mineral processing, furniture and soft furnishings, paper, glass and refractories and building products.
Advancement of Manufacturing and Technology Centre –The AMT centre’s aim is to assist and promote small and medium sized manufacturing enterprises located in Essex. The AMT provides a mentoring programme, practical workshops and seminars together with organisational case studies online.
SEMTA – The Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies Sector Skills Council website is comprehensive including: research and labour market information on the sector; news on the sector; information on training, qualifications and occupational standard; and workforce development plans.
The Chemical Industry – This is a comprehensive website with specific information and statistics on the chemical industry together with careers materials and information on training and qualifications in the sector.
