MindGrad 2009

Warwick Graduate Conference in the Philosophy of Mind

CALL FOR PAPERS

Saturday 5th–Sunday 6th December 2009

Department of Philosophy, University of Warwick, UK

Keynote Speakers:

Alva Noë (University of California, Berkeley)
Tim Crane (University of Cambridge)

Deadline for Submissions:

The deadline for submissions to MindGrad 2009 has been extended to 30th September 2009, although we encourage applicants to submit their papers as soon as possible in order to ensure sufficient time to make any necessary travel arrangements.

Papers are invited from graduate students working in any area or tradition within the philosophy of mind, including related topics in metaphysics, epistemology, and the philosophy of psychology or cognitive science.

Submissions must be suitable for presentation in a 30–40 minute time slot (approx. 3,000–4,500 words approx). Papers will be reviewed by members of the University of Warwick Department of Philosophy and those accepted will receive a response from a faculty member or visiting academic, plus general discussion at the conference.

Full papers (not just abstracts) should be submitted in a format suitable for blind review (i.e. double-spaced with wide margins in a standard font, plus a separate cover sheet or e-mail including personal details, title and a brief abstract). Submissions may be e-mailed to mind dot grad at warwick dot ac dot uk in any standard file format, or posted to:

Please Note:

The department can only cover the full expenses of speakers travelling within the UK. When submitting a paper from outside the UK, please bear in mind that you (or preferably your department) will need to cover travel expenses to the UK.

As in previous years, we hope to be able to offer a limited number of travel bursaries to applicants whose papers are not accepted for inclusion in the conference, but whose presence the referees feel would make a significant contribution to the event.
