Travel information

Poets Reading Philosophy, Philosophers Reading Poetry 26-28 October 2007 The conference will be held on the central campus of the University of Warwick. Various links and pieces of information relevant to travel to the university and orientation once here are provided below. Campus map:http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/about/visiting/maps/central/ The Social Studies building, for the first session, is labeled 53; the Warwick Arts Centre, for the remaining sessions, is 61; and Millburn House, for Sunday afternoon tea, is 38. Map of parking on campus:http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/about/visiting/maps/central/cp/ There is a confusing variety of parking and payment options, so it would be worthwhile studying the key on the parking map that explains them. Parking lot #4 would be ideal for Friday and Saturday, and is free after 4:00 pm on Friday, but it is tiny. Parking lot #7 is very close to the Arts Centre; lot #8 is also free after 4:00 pm on Friday. Lot #10 includes small pockets of free parking and is fairly convenient. The nearest major airport is Birmingham International (BHX), and it is approximately 20-25 minutes drive from campus. There is also a rail station at the airport which allows you to take the train to Coventry, and you can then take a bus or taxi to campus. The Coventry airport is also quite near and is served primarily by Thomson Airline. For arrival by rail, the Coventry station is the closest; travel to Leamington Spa is also convenient. From either station, after a slight walk, you can get a bus to campus: from Coventry, the #12 bus (a 25 minute ride), and from Leamington, either the #12 or the U1 bus (either a 30 or 25 minute ride). See link below. The following site gives good links concerning bus service to the university:http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/about/visiting/directions/localbuses/ These two sites on visiting the university (the second is aimed at arriving international students) include a variety of information that may be helpful: http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/about/visiting/http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/international/applicants/beforearrival/travel/#london
