SMILE Workshop at the University of Warwick

Using Social Media Analysis to Evaluate Arts and Culture Experiences

This workshop will present research findings from the SMILE project (funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council) and discuss their implications for arts and culture organisations seeking to evaluate quality of visitor experience. This event will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of analysing visitors’ discussions on social media to inform arts organisations’ practices.

Essentially it will cover both the methodological dimensions and technical dimensions of using social media data to evaluate quality of experience, as well as introducing a new (free) tool that will be available to the arts and culture sector to analyse their audience’s tweets.

Jensen will be presenting findings from research that we did with arts and culture audience members who tweeted about their experiences, and what this research tells us about how valuable (or not) tweets are as a source of evaluation data.

This event will be a great opportunity for getting full, interdisciplinary answers to how precisely your organisation would be able to use social media to understand audiences (or where it is less feasible).
