Upgrades to the B0.01 lecture theatre

Phase 2 of this project arranged for December 2009

This winter vacation phase 2 of the B0.01 upgrade will take place. This will see the replacement of the current lectern with one similar to those used in other theatres. This will be height-adjustable and include the same user interface as used in the Phase 3 lecture theatres. A Promethean tablet will be added plus much of the outdated AV equipment will be replaced.

Lecture theatre B0.01 re-opened in September 2009 after phase one of its upgrade was completed on time. The major elements of the refurbishment were:

  1. The raising of the teaching floor to the same level as the first tier of seats to remove the 'bear pit' effect.
  2. The installation of a second projector and screen to allow for the simultaneous use of the visualiser and primary projector
  3. The replacement of the aging OHP by a high resolution Wolfvision visualiser

The upgrade was completed during a narrow window of opportunity thanks largely to the tremendous efforts of the University's Estates department.

Instructions on the use of the visualiser and second (powered) screen can be found within the theatre. As with all teaching rooms at WBS the room has a telephone for requesting emergency support.

We are keen to hear any feedback on the changes, in part because we would like to pass on positive comments to our Estates colleagues. Should the dedicated visualiser screen prove popular similar changes could be considered for other WBS lecture theatres.
