Congratulations to Mark Johnson

We are delighted to announce that Mark Johnson has been awarded a very well-deserved Chair at Warwick Business School. Mark has been head of Operations Group since 2018 when it was formed from the merger of Operations Management and Operational Research Groups.

JPIM accepts Giovanni Radaelli's latest paper

Giovanni Radaelli has co-authored a paper 'The Role of Managers in Enacting Two-Step Institutional Work for Radical Innovation in Proffessional Organisations' - which has been accepted by the Journal of Product Innovation Management.

Haley Beer joins OM

WBS OM Group PhD student Haley Beer is joining us as Assistant Professor of Performance and Responsibility on 3 January 2017. Throughout her years as a PhD student Haley has worked closely with the Group, developing her teaching skills alongside her research. We are delighted to welcome her. This has been a big year for Haley, who got married in August - congratulations on your new status, Haley!

Giovanni Radaelli joins OM

We are delighted that Dr Giovanni Radaelli will be joining us on 3 January 2017 as Assistant Professor. Gio will be working on an NHS research project with Nicola Burgess, and will also be teaching on our undergraduate modules. He was previously a research fellow with the WBS Enterpreneurship and Innovation Group and he will continue his involvement with the Organising Healthcare Research Network.

Max Finne wins Teaching Innovation Award

Max won a well-deserved accolade for his paper 'Deconstructing the productivity of university teaching' at this year's EurOMA conference. In a slightly circular way, it was the NIgel Slack Teaching Innovation Award... Congratulations Max!

We welcome Vikki Abusidualghoul

Vikki AbusidualghoulThe OM Group is delighted to welcome Dr Vikki Abusidualghoul who joins us as Principal Teaching Fellow. She has transferred to OM from the Masters programme here at WBS where she has been the Programmes Improvement Officer since 2014. Vikki will be teaching on several of our modules. She has been involved with innovative programme design, so will have a head start on bringing new ideas to the OM teaching offer. Prior to joining WBS last year, Vikki was a Programme Director and Senior Lecturer at the University of Leicester. We welcome Vikki to the OM Group and look forward to working with her.

Nicola BurgessNew research by Nicola Burgess and WBS colleagues has found that hybrid middle managers – nurses and doctors that have moved from the frontline into management roles – are ignored by their peers, making it difficult to share knowledge up the chain of command due to a professional hierarchy where high status doctors ‘shut down’ peers of a ‘lower’ status.
