Creating Criminals: prisons and security in an insecure world

This public lecture is given by Baroness Vivien Stern, Senior Research Fellow at the International Centre for Prison Studies at King's College London.

Baroness Stern has published several books, including "A Sin Against the Future: Imprisonment in the World", "Imprisoned by our Prisons and Bricks of Shame", "Britain's Prisons", "Deprived of their Liberty", "Alternatives to Prison in Developing Countries", and "Sentenced to Die? The problem of TB in prisons in Eastern Europe and Central Asia".

She has been awarded honorary degrees of Doctor of Laws by Bristol University and by Oxford Brookes University, and is an Honorary Fellow of LSE. She is a Life Peer and sits in the House of Lords as a Crossbencher.
