Grace Research Fund: The Big Push 2010

The Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) are now inviting teams to join the annual Grace Research Fund Big Push event on Sunday 10 October 2010.

The aim of the Grace Research Fund is to commission research into the wellbeing of premature babies and their families. The Fund is a local fundraising initiative, administered by the University, with research led by the University in conjunction with local hospitals: Warwick, George Elliot and The University Hospital - Walsgrave.

Last year's Big Push event saw £7,000 collected for the Fund.

Fundraisers will be hitting the streets of Coventry and Warwickshire this year with the goal of raising £10,000 for the Grace Research Fund. Each Team of four will be pushing a decorated shopping trolley to University Hospital in Coventry.

Thirty teams are expected to leave from two departure points – the maternity units at Warwick Hospital and George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton at 8.30am.

Nuneaton and Bedworth Mayor Cllr Don Navarro will wave off the teams from George Eliot Hospital and Peter Deeley, chairman of the Deeley Group, will be setting off the teams at Warwick Hospital.

Fundraisers will be greeted at the finishing line outside the maternity unit at University Hospital by Phil Townshend, chairman of University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.

He will present prizes to the team that raises the most money and has the best decorated trolley and hand over a wooden spoon to the slowest team.
