Hedwig & the Angry Inch

A show at the Godiva Award winning Criterion Theatre in Earlsdon, Coventry.

A cult rock musical about a transsexual’s life and loves - a production that is rarely performed because it is so daring.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch Saturday 17 February to Saturday 24 February

Text by John Cameron Mitchell

Music & lyrics by Stephen Trask from 7.30pm every night

Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a unique and powerful rock musical that is not for the faint-hearted or the narrow-minded. Hedwig Robinson uses her performance with her band (The Angry Inch) in a run-down, small-town American bar to tell us her extraordinary life story.

She was born a boy, Hansel, on the wrong side of the Berlin Wall. She suffered a botched sex-change operation. In a Kansas trailer park she met Tommy, the love of her life. Now, as Hedwig and her band prepare for their gig, international rock star Tommy is playing to an adoring crowd of thousands at the football stadium next door, with a collection of hit songs he didn’t write…………….

This powerful show combines rock gig, caberet, stand-up comedy, philosophical musing on the nature of love and the confessional. Full of pain, pathos and pounding rock music it nevertheless delivers a genuinely tender message about the strength of the human spirit.

‘An adult, thought-provoking musical about the quest for individuality.’ New York Times

‘In the whole long, sorry history of rock musicals, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH is the first one that truly rocks,’ Rolling Stone

The bar will be open before, during and after the show.

Note: Contains sexually explicit references
