IAS Open Seminar on Engineering and Art

The Institute of Advanced Study (IAS) is supporting an Open Seminar which explores the connections between the work of artists and the work of engineers from 4pm to 5:30pm on Wednesday 28 April. It will feature talks from Steve Maggs of the School of Engineering and Portuguese artist Miguel Palma.

Miguel Palma is currently en route in a 1963 Jaguar, retracing its journey in the 60s from Coventry to Lisbon. His work explores a range of ideas about sustainability, value and transaction, mediated through iconic cars.

Steve Maggs is part of the team that developed the sustainable F3 racing car. The seminar will examine the ways in which creativity and innovation can be accommodated within institutional, industrial and managerial practices.

The seminar can only accommodate 50 attendees so tickets must be booked through Warwick Arts Centre Box Office on 024 765 24524. After the event has finished there will be afternoon tea, and the opportunity to have a more informal discussion on the topic.
