Open Studies Dayschool - Bess of Hardwick and Hardwick Hall

Saturday 2 June, 10am-4pm. Methodist Church, Old Town, Stratford upon Avon.

“Hardwick Hall more glass than wall”. Bess of Hardwick is one of the most fascinating women of the sixteenth century and her most famous building, Hardwick Hall, survives as a fine example of Elizabethan creativity, magnificence and pride. This dayschool will explore her great work at Hardwick by looking at the architecture of her buildings, the organisation of space, and the luxurious furnishings revealed in the 1601 inventory.
