In December 2004, The Independent’s foreign correspondent, Robert Fisk, was beaten to the brink of death when his car broke down near the border city of Quetta in Pakistan.

 

Amidst the horror, he caught his reflection in the window of a bus - his hands and body drenched in blood - and was reminded of Shakespeare’s infamous line;

 

"Yet who would have thought the old man to have had so much blood in him?" (Act V, Scene 1, Macbeth).

 

Now, in a rare visit to the UK, join Robert Fisk at the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Courtyard Theatre to discuss Shakespeare and War. Part of the RSC’s ongoing Broadside Brunch series, the in conversation discussion will take place on Sunday 1 April 2007 at 1pm in The Courtyard Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon.
