Warwick is hosting a series of six engaging and accessible lectures, open to all, over the festive period from 3-10 December 2014. Join our academics for fantastic new ideas, explosions and experiments.
Tickets are available now from Warwick Arts Centre Box Office – but be quick, as we expect the events to be very popular. Tickets are free, with an optional £5 donation towards future collaborative science and arts projects.
On 3 December, Professor Adrian Wilson will answer some intriguing questions about our senses: How do we know something is dangerous to touch? How do we see an object? How do we hear music?
Nick Barker’s chemical reactions on 4 December will demonstrate the amusement, beauty and importance of Chemistry – and some loud bangs!
In the Bosch Warwick Christmas Lecture on 5 December, our Ogden School Teacher Fellow Ally Caldecote will use marvellous magnets and shocking electricity to show some of the super things that physicists can do that will spark your curiosity for science.
Dr Miriam Gifford will play ping pong and Chinese whispers on 8 December to give you a cell’s eye view of how living things grow.
On 9 December, Dr Matthew Leeke gives you the opportunity to judge whether storing and tracking of data will lead him to become a supervillain.
In the final lecture on 10 December, Dr John Halpin will show you how to break a glass with just your voice, music from electrical sparks and how to play Christmas carols on a carrot.
