New and emerging cloud computing services offer organisations like ours a number of opportunities including:
- reduced IT costs,
- flexibility and scalability of IT resources,
- reduced environmental impact, and
- better price, quality and expertise, allowing us to purchase potentially stronger, more secure IT solutions.
However, there are information security and resilience risks that come with outsourcing the storage and processing of University information.
The Institutional Governance Team, working with IT Services, has produced some guidance on how you can optimise the benefits of Cloud services whilst also protecting University information.
