Costcutter raises money for local sports programmes

Staff at the Costcutter store on central campus have raised £4,000 for Warwick Sport as part of Costcutter’s nationally run “Making a Difference Locally” campaign.

Warwick Sport will use the money to fund the development of their Hall Sports Programme which is open to all members of the community that live on campus, as well as a number of community engagement programmes through Sports Clubs.

Gemma Morris, Head of Delivery for Warwick Sport said:

costcutter1Our aim at Warwick Sport is to provide first class sporting facilities that are readily accessible and encourage active participation among staff, students and the wider community. The money raised from the Making a Difference Locally campaign will be hugely beneficial to both our Hall Sports Programme and to the growth of community projects that gives our students the opportunity to volunteer and improve their employability through some very worthwhile local projects”.

Fabio Finnochiaro, Assistant Store Manager at Costcutter commented:

I am delighted that the money raised by our store will be used to help the wider university community and I would like to thank all our customers who have made this possible”.

mad-locally.jpgMaking a Difference Locally is a registered charity that was launched in 2008 to help independently run local stores add value in their communities by making specific donations to local charities or good causes within their locality. The money is raised by the sale of specific items in stores over a period of time.
The store owner then chooses a beneficiary for the money and a donation is paid to the charity or cause by the Making a Difference Locally charity.
