philPhil Smith is UK & Ireland Chief Executive of Cisco Systems - the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet. In 2011, Phil was appointed as Chairman of the UK Technology Strategy Board and as Chair of e-Skills UK. In 2012, Phil was voted Orange Business Leader of the Year in the National Business Awards; listed as number 29 in the Wired 100 and hailed amongst the most influential leaders in UK IT by Computer Weekly in its UKTech50 2012 awards. Phil also sits on the board of The Business Disability Forum, the Foundation for Science and Technology (FST) and The National Centre for Universities and Business (NCUB).

Phil has a thirty year track record within the ICT industry, advising organisations in the private and public sector on how to drive transformation, productivity and sustainable growth. Phil is a passionate advocate of technology and innovation with business and political leaders. Over the past two years, Phil has championed the British Innovation Gateway (BIG) programme, created as a legacy of London 2012, in support of driving UK growth through technology entrepreneurship and STEM skills. He is an accomplished speaker on ‘the future of the internet’, innovation, sustainability, inclusion & diversity and business transformation.

Phil is also the founding member of ‘The Leaderboard’; a cross industry team of thirty UK CEOs who raised over £250,000 for Comic Relief in 2012 by competing in a triathlon.
