Come along to watch Warwick's Dragons' Den

ddFollowing the success of last year’s Dragons’ Den session at the Warwick Network, you have another opportunity to watch and get involved in judging the short-listed proposals for this year's Warwick's Dragons' Den held at 12.30–2pm, Tuesday 22 July.

The audience is a key part of the event and last year pitchers managed to get members of the panel riding exercise bikes under UV lights and dressed up as Santa Claus and Elves.

Come along on Tuesday 22 July at 12.30 – 14.00, in the Arts Centre studio, and get involved with this year's Dragons' Den, you are welcome to bring your lunch. Please register here to reserve your place in the audience.

Short-listed Proposals:

The intrepid entrepreneurs will be pitching ideas for new University-based businesses to a panel of Dragons, consisting of Ken Sloan, Jo Horsburgh, Tom Britten, Geraldine Mills and Delyth Chambers, with Bob Hogg hosting.

1.Non Academic Bid Office

Essentially RSS for non-academic opportunities - the creation of a small ‘bid office’ to search, filter and “qualify” opportunities for non-academic funding and for collaboration and partnership with other HEIs – Sue Bennett (Director, Student Careers and Skills) will be delivering the pitch

2. Warwick Ideas Space

University of Warwick crowd-sourcing platform to generate and collect ideas for new business ventures and “simplify, collaborate deliver”. Staff and students would submit their ideas to online for comment/rating/ranking by other staff and students. The top ideas are then considered by a panel of experts for development – Leighton Joskey (HR Systems Manager) and Alex Miles (Senior Public Affairs and Policy Adviser)

3. Enhanced Campus Bus/Shuttle Service

Improve the existing shuttle bus service by introducing dedicated shelters, a formal timetable and extending the service to run between campus and Leamington/other locations at SU closing time (chargeable service) - Tuvan Soykan (PG Business Student)

4. Warwick Warmbrella Scheme

Create a “Warmbrella” scheme whereby umbrellas are kept at pay stations in each building on campus so, in the event of rain, people can take an umbrella for a charge and leave it at their destination point. Presented by Oluyemi Jegede.
