Support for Early Career Researchers
Early career researchers are being reminded to take advantage of two opportunities coming up to support for their publications and career development.
Open Access: Information session
The Library and Research Support Services currently have funding available to help researchers pay the Article Processing Charges (APCs) associated with Gold Open Access (OA) for any journal articles accepted for publication by the end of March 2013. This funding is available on a first-come-first-served basis.
All ECRs are invited to a presentation and Q&A on Tuesday 29 January 2013 to help you understand the funding and how it may be used, led by the Library’s Open Access Officers, Helen Albrow and Dr Cheryl Rounsaville. If you can’t make it to the session between 1-2pm, then Helen and Cheryl will hold a drop-in session from 2-3pm to answer your questions on a one-to-one basis. All ECRs are welcome, tea and coffee will be provided.

Career Planning and Progression for Early Career Researchers
Registration is open for the Institute of Advanced Study and Wolfson Research Exchange’s Advanced Workshop Day for Early Career Researchers on Career Planning and Progression on Friday 1 February 2013.
The programme covers topics including planning your career development, understanding contract types, and work-life balance. Speakers include Dr Kate Sang (Acting Chair, Feminist and Women’s Studies Association) speaking on Gender and Academic Careers, along with Professor Alison Rodger (Director of MOAC, and Chair of Warwick’s Athena Swan Network) and Professor Pam Thomas (Chair, Faculty of Science).
Attendance is free (including refreshments and lunch) and open to all early career researchers, tutors and academics at Warwick, but registration is essential. Please email lib dot network at warwick dot ac dot uk by 28th January to register or to receive more information.
