Emergency Repair Works at junction of Cromwell Lane

Please be aware of immediate emergency works by National Grid Gas at the junction of Cromwell Lane and Charter Avenue to repair a gas leak.

Temporary signals will be in place at this junction, and it may also be necessary to restrict movements of large vehicles depending on the extent and progress of the emergency works. Other works are currently in place by Western Power Distribution in nearby Westwood Heath Road.

National Grid Gas would normally seek to avoid disruptive traffic management in such close proximity where possible and they are working with the utility companies involved to minimise disruption. To this end, traffic management in Westwood Heath Road will be suspended as soon as is practical, and will continue once the emergency works by National Grid Gas are completed. However, there will be a brief period (until Wednesday 22 January) where both sets of traffic management will unfortunately need to be in place at the same time whilst Western Power reach a point where they are able to suspend their work .

Both utilities will be endeavouring to minimise the area of work under signal control and the temporary signals for both locations will be under manual control during busy periods.

However, delays will be unavoidable whilst works are in progress, and it would be advisable to use an alternative route where possible or to allow extra journey time.
