End of year thanks from the Vice-Chancellor

Dear colleagues

As we reach the end of another incredibly busy academic year, I want to express my personal thanks for your hard work and commitment. Besides the huge range of incredible achievements, projects and events that have taken place across the University, this year has also seen us named as The Times and Sunday Times University of the Year, and we were ranked in 7th place in the Research Excellence Framework (REF). We can all be particularly proud of these significant accolades.

2015 continues to be an outstanding year for us as we celebrate our 50th anniversary. Many of you have been involved in celebrations – on campus and overseas – and there are many more events taking place throughout the summer period and into the autumn.

At the beginning of 2015, in recognition of the Times/Sunday Times award, all staff were awarded an additional day’s annual leave. I’m pleased to advise you that a further day’s annual leave will be awarded on Wednesday 23 December 2015 as a token of thanks for the contributions of all Warwick staff as we come to the end of this special year.

Of course, I recognise that some staff will be required to work on this date in order to continue to deliver key services on campus. In this event, you will be able to take an alternative day as additional leave and guidelines on this will be provided to Heads of Departments and via insite.

Thank you, again, for making Warwick the outstandingly successful institution that it is.

Nigel
