Students have been nominating their 'top tutors' for fabulous feedback, and the winners of each group have now been announced. Congratulations to all those staff who were nominated.

Seán Hand from French Studies has finished top of the table for the Faculty of Arts, narrowly beating Cathia Jenainati from English and Comparative Literary Studies.

On hearing the news, Seán said:

This means a great deal to me, precisely because we’re nominated by our terrific students. I’m delighted also that four teachers in French came in the Arts Top Ten. I’ll probably use funds to trial some online and "augmented" possibilities, and to build up more resources for my other modules, including a new one for next year on 'France and Globalisation'."

Ian Tuersley from WMG is the overall winner for the Faculties of Science and Medicine.

Ian commented:

Obviously I am really delighted to have been nominated at all – let alone top the poll in the faculty. I would extend congratulations to all our colleagues who were nominated – the students' comments have demonstrated the wide range of excellent practices that are already being deployed around the University to provide timely, useful advice to students. I'd like to apply the funds to find ways of using online facilities to enhance the feedforward facilities associated with some of my module assignments."

Richard Lampard from Sociology has topped the table for the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Richard said:

Like numerous colleagues in Sociology, Social Sciences and the University in general, I view feedback as very important; in fact, I see it as a key mechanism via which we can try to help students develop their work. But it's also a challenge, so it's gratifying to know that all our efforts are appreciated!"

The three staff who top the tables will each be given access to a £1,000 fund to support their own personal teaching.

Student prize draw winners

The students who nominated these staff were entered into a draw which took place on Friday 8 March, with three winners each receiving a £100 top-up on their Eating at Warwick card. The winning students were: Hanna Holmeide (Sociology), David Azpiroz Korban (School of Engineering), and Rory Jones (French Studies).
