About the course

Principles of Economics - all you need to know as a non-economist will take place between 21 July – 8 August 2014 as part of the Department of Economics inaugural Summer School.

Economics is all around us, and can be used to explain many aspects of everyday life. This course provides an exciting opportunity for non-economists to gain a sound understanding of the key principles of the discipline. Taught in a non-technical way, it is open to anyone who is curious about Economics and wants to understand why it has such a major impact on our lives. There are no specific entry requirements and applications are welcomed from both staff and students from any discipline who wish to enhance their skills, knowledge and CV.

The course will provide an excellent foundation in Economics and help students to understand the important decisions made by individuals, firms and governments. It will allow students to make better decisions themselves and to answer questions that we ask ourselves on a daily basis, ultimately providing a distinct career advantage.
