Thanks to the generosity of Warwick Benefactors, over 60 high achieving Warwick students came together at an Awards Ceremony in The Panorama Suite, Rootes, on Thursday 17 October 2013. Students from departments across the University were awarded for efforts over the year with criteria including dissertations, overall academic performance, exam marks and overall contribution to departmental life.

A number of other prizes were also awarded at this event:

• The Ann Barnes Prize for academic excellence and exceptional classroom proficiency was created in memory of Dr Ann Barnes. This prize is awarded annually to one Warwick trainee in the Institute of Education who excels both academically and as a teacher.
• The Rohin Modasia Prize for outstanding contribution in Engineering Sustainability and the Prize for excellence in Economics with applications to benefit the wider community.
• William V Whitehead Prize for academic excellence for in English and Comparative Literature which is awarded to a first year student who achieves the highest marks in their year group in memory of his long standing career and academic values.
• Founded by alumnus Andy Charman, the Philosophy and Literature Essay Prize rewards students who demonstrate a personal commitment to the study of philosophy and literature through an essay addressing the question: How does studying philosophy and literature matter to your life?
• Sir Robert Worcester Prize for best MA dissertation in Politics. Sir Robert is the founder of MORI (Market and Opinion Research International Ltd.) and is an Honorary Professor in the Department of Politics and International Studies
• Ron Lockhart Prize in recognition of academic achievement and excellence within the Mathematics Institute

The student prize winners were delighted that their hard work, dedication and commitment had been recognised. Alexander Wendland who won the Ron Lockhart Prize said:

I was very pleased with my award and that studying the subject that I love has brought me this recognition, I hope to keep up with the standards this award assumes of me!"

All of these awards are fully funded by donations from alumni and friends of the University and would not have been possible without the support of these generous donors. The event was a wonderful opportunity for some of the donors to celebrate the exceptional achievements of all the winners.
