Emma King, Learning and Development Centre (11am)

Emma has made a substantial contribution to the development of technology enhanced learning at Warwick over a number of years and has acted far beyond her immediate remit. In addition to her day to day role working with and training staff, postgraduates and academics especially those new to Warwick, Emma’s efforts have contributed enormously to the increased use of learning technology across the institution and, perhaps more importantly, the appropriate use. Colleagues have noted that Warwick’s collective knowledge, skills and internal networks would be much poorer without Emma’s efforts.

Learning and Development Manager Manus Conaghan says,

Emma demonstrates a drive and commitment to supporting members of staff to enhance their practice through a collaborative collegiate method and has transformed LDC’s approach to technology enhanced learning through her dedication to developing styles that are flexible and engaging, but most importantly are designed to challenge and support participants in developing their own teaching practice."

Vivian Hunt, Hon LLD (11am)

Vivian Hunt is Director and Managing Partner of McKinsey & Company’s United Kingdom and Ireland Offices. Vivian’s primary consulting focus is serving leading pharmaceutical companies on a broad range of strategy, development, and organisational topics.

Vivian serves on the board of several UK charities including the Henry Smith Charity and Action on Addiction. Additionally, she sits as chair for the UK Black British Powerlist and was previously named most influential black woman in Britain.

Prior to joining McKinsey, Vivian worked in both management and performance-improvement roles in the healthcare and consumer sectors. She has also worked as a regional co-ordinator, midwife, and volunteer in the US Peace Corps (Senegal) and as a healthcare project director in New York City.

Matthew Taylor, Hon LLD (3pm)

Matthew Taylor has been Chief Executive of the RSA since November 2006. During this time the Society has substantially increased its output of research and innovation, has provided new routes to support charitable initiatives of its 26,000 Fellows – including crowd funding - and has developed a global profile as a platform for ideas.

Prior to this appointment, Matthew was Chief Adviser on Political Strategy to the Prime Minister. Previous roles include Labour Party Director of Policy and Deputy General Secretary and Chief Executive of the IPPR, the UK’s leading left of centre think tank. He tweets as RSAMatthew.
