Higher Education green paper: Government consultation

As staff and students may know, the government’s green paper on the future of Higher Education was released on Friday 6 November 2015.

The government has opened a public consultation on the paper which will run until 15 January 2016. They are seeking views on proposals including the introduction of a Teaching Excellence Framework, increasing access and success for those from disadvantaged and under-represented groups, changes to market entry, the establishment of a new Office for Students and the potential impact of the paper on research.

The University will be submitting an institutional response to the consultation. Key groups including Heads of Department, the Academic Qualities and Standards Committee (AQSC) and Faculty Teaching and Learning Committees will be engaged in compiling the draft response for consideration by the University Steering Committee in the new year.
