Awards success for 'Thinking about University?' website

Thinking
Warwick's Outreach Team was awarded the HELOA Innovation and Best Practice award for the 'Thinking about university?' website at last week's HELOA National Conference.

The award, voted for by the corporate members of the 900 strong Higher Education Liaison Officers Association, celebrates exciting and innovative projects developed by members over the last year.

The Thinking about university pages are specifically aimed at students from year 5 through to year 13. These pages offer young people the opportunity to explore university in a fun and interactive way and to find answers to the sorts of questions that might impact on their own choices in the future.

Drawing upon focus groups conducted with students across the region, the site is delivered through an interactive map and timeline and a set of distinctive specially commissioned illustrations.

Tom Such, Project Manager of the initiative, presented the project to HELOA's members. Tom said

It was great to be able to accept the award on behalf of the Outreach team and the University of Warwick. This project is just one example of the excellent work that the team is involved in at the moment and it will be exciting to see how it evolves and develops over the coming years."

After being shortlisted from sixteen submissions, Warwick took home the award on the final day of the conference, after beating tough competition from the University of Nottingham and University College London.
