In Memoriam: Ming Tsung (Maggie) Cheung

The University is saddened to report the death of Economics postgraduate student Ming Tsung (Maggie) Cheung following a road traffic accident close to campus on Tuesday 21 of January. She was studying on the Masters in Economics degree programme. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time. A book of condolence will be available shortly.

Her personal tutor in Economics Dr Jonathan Cave said:

Maggie greatly impressed me with her clear-sighted enthusiasm and strong academic potential, which she was well on the way to fulfilling. She had a large network of friends, and was looking forward to a productive career with eager anticipation. She will be sorely missed, not least by her instructors and fellow students.”

University staff and support professionals are already in contact with some of the students who were close to Maggie. If you would like to speak to someone at this time, there are a number of support services available. The Student Support Services website gives more details or you can contact Student Support on 024 76 575570, ext 75570.

Those who knew Maggie are invited to join her family and friends to remember her on Monday 27 January at 4pm in the Chaplaincy (next to the Arts Centre).

Maggie's family are being supported by a Police Liaison Officer. Police are appealing for witnesses in this incident to contact them. Please telephone the Police on 101 (national police telephone number) and ask for the Collision Investigation Unit at West Midlands Police.
