Jobs.ac.uk recruitment effectiveness study

25jobs.ac.uk, one of the leading global jobs boards for careers in academic, research, science and related professions, today announced the results of a recruitment effectiveness study it recently carried out in collaboration with 8 UK universities.

The purpose of the research was to understand how universities attract job applicants and more importantly, which media delivered the best quality candidates that were appointed.

Unlike other studies, the research uses primary recruitment data taken directly from the participating universities’ e-Recruitment system and provided insights on 77,654 job applications, 7,194 interviews and 2,482 appointments.

The independent study revealed that jobs.ac.uk provided universities with more job applications, interviewees and appointments than any other external recruitment source.

Other key findings

  • jobs.ac.uk is over ten times more effective than all other external media sources combined in appointing academic and research staff
  • Online recruitment was found to be over four times more effective than traditional offline media for appointing university staff
  • The university’s own recruitment pages were the most effective source of applications, interviews and appointments
  • Social media did not yield any applications, interviews or appointments

Commenting on the findings, Carl Freelove, Marketing Manager at jobs.ac.uk, said

We were thrilled to see that jobs.ac.uk was found to be the most effective external source for university staff recruitment, particularly in the academic and research field. With greater pressure on recruiters to improve ROI with their recruitment spend, we hope that this new data will help universities to better optimise their recruitment advertising budgets and save money."
