Warwick University Judo Club welcomed double Olympic Silver medalist and 1981 world champion Neil Adams MBE 8th Dan to campus last week, as a guest coach.

Neil Adams is arguably one of the best European Judokas of all time, winning the European Championship five times. He was also the first British male to win a World title, and the first British male to simultaneously hold a world title and a European title. Neil held a reunion at Warwick with the British internationals who trained full-time under him in the mid 1990s, including included Pan American Champion Niki Adams, British Open Champion Lee Burbridge, European Champion Matt Ruff and British Champion Darren Warner.

Forty two members of the Judo Club squeezed into the activity room to enjoy a technical session where Neil meticulously delivered the finer details of championship winning moves. Abreast of all the latest international Judo, he offered some of his tricks to stay up to date with the impending new rule changes. The session ended, as always, with some Randori (free sparring) where everybody, from beginners to seasoned black belts, were able to experience first hand Neil's dynamic Judo and explosive throws.

Thomas Grandjean, Senior Coach at the club, said:

We'd like to once again thank Neil Adams for the awe inspiring session, our awesome coach Dave Nicholls 5th Dan (former GB representative and team captain who trained full time under Neil Adams) for organising the session, and all the full timers, some of whom came from a long way away."
