Laksh Quiz Night: Thanks to all involved

Congratulations to all those involved in the recent Laksh Big Quiz Night which raised a fantastic £2356 with an additional £400 raised from a raffle at CCSG's Awards dinner, making a grand total of £2756 raised to support the students travelling to India this summer to teach English and Maths at the Laksh Foundation.

12 teams from the University community took part in the quiz, with the winning team, “The University House Party”, made up of members from the Marketing department and External Affairs, taking home first prize fighting off stiff competition from teams from across the University community.

A huge thanks to all who supported the event in so many ways, including giving their time and giving items for the auction and raffle as well as everyone who came along, joined in the fun and generously donated to a worthwhile cause.

These funds will be combined with monies kindly donated by the community of the village of Lapworth who have generously supported the project for a number of years by hosting an annual fundraising and auction night. This year the event raised almost £1500.

Thank you to everyone that donated or helped to fundraise, the money raised will help support our students in India and your efforts makes a big difference. Find out more about the Warwick Laksh project and read about our previous volunteers experiences here.

The Warwick volunteers provide essential inspiration and encouragement for the teachers with regards to creativity and original lesson planning...What never fails to overwhelm me is the eagerness with which our students arrive for their tuitions, just for the learning, because that learning seems to promise a better future for them.
