Warwick Law School Extension - now open

Head of Law School Alan Norrie, Vice-Chancellor Professor Nigel Thrift, Director of Administration Maria Ovens, and Professor Paul RaffieldThe new Law School extension was officially opened on Tuesday 28 October by the University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nigel Thrift. Current and former colleagues from the Law School and across the University, and students, attended to celebrate the new space and its impact on the department.

The extension space includes new seminar rooms and a Student Hub which will be open 24/7, where students can use desks for quiet study, or sofas and informal tables for group work and socialising. The Hub also features screens which students can link to their laptops to share presentations, as well as an overhead projector for screenings. Also part of the extension is the new Reception area and Undergraduate and Postgraduate offices making the department more accessible and approachable to students.

The extension means the Law School now has an increased identity on campus, with Alan Norrie, the Law School’s Head of Department, commenting:

I think the ground floor gives us real presence and I hope more of a sense of pride in our School. We felt that our student body deserved more, and we are delighted to see the hub taking shape. And we think that the student reception on the ground floor is a real step forward. Overall, we are pleased that the School has a greater sense of identity, which recognises the excellent work that we do together.”
