Learning Grid Rootes was officially opened on Thursday 6 June by Warwick's Vice-Chancellor and President , Professor Nigel Thrift. The facility, which opened its doors for the first time on 20 May, has areas for both collaborative and individual study and can accommodate more than 300 people at any given time at computer workstations, study desks or collaborative seating.

Speaking at the opening, Professor Thrift said:

This is a welcome addition to the increasing number of fantastic study spaces we have here on our campus. In the past year, the University has greatly increased the variety and choice that our students have when undertaking different types of learning. The space represents a very significant increase of over 10% in the total number of study spaces provided through the Library.

Robin Green, Librarian, added:

Judging by the number of students who have already been using the space and the positive response we’ve had, there is no doubt that it has been a really popular development. I’d like to thank those people from across the University and beyond who have worked tirelessly to make this happen.”
