Monash and Warwick students taking part in exchange programmes, joint PhDs and joint student society activities as part of the Monash Warwick Alliance met over a glass of Australian wine on Tuesday 12 May to share their experiences.

A drinks reception hosted by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Jan Palmowski offered an opportunity for the students to exchange hints and tips for getting the most out of their Alliance experience and to offer ideas and feedback to staff supporting these joint activities.

Warwick undergraduates who have already enjoyed a period of study at Monash were able to pass on valuable advice to those who will be travelling to Monash (both to the Melbourne and South Africa campuses) in 2015/16. The outgoing Warwick students also met incoming Monash exchange students and students of the joint PhD - two who started their course at Monash and are currently spending their year of study at Warwick, and two who started at Warwick and will travel to Monash later this year.

Also represented were students who successfully applied for funding from the Alliance for joint student-led projects ranging from reciprocal Law Mooting competitions between Monash and Warwick to collaborations in Formula Student motor racing.

About the Alliance

Formed in early 2012, the Monash Warwick Alliance represents an innovation in higher education and research and aims to accelerate the exchange of people, ideas and information between Monash University and the University of Warwick.

To date, over 560 Monash and Warwick students have taken part in Alliance activities. 2015/16 will see 84 Warwick students travel to Monash to take part in student exchange activities, representing the largest cohort of outgoing exchange students to Monash so far.
