Alliance Research Colloquium rescheduled for 11 November

This event will now take place in the Council Chamber, Senate House on Monday 11 November 2013 at 12-1.30pm. Join us for a showcase of Alliance research activities.

The Monash-Warwick Alliance has been funding research activity (through its Seed Fund) since 2009. With significant growth in the breadth and scope of Alliance activities, especially in the last year, you are invited to see examples of how colleagues have used Alliance funding to advance not only their collaboration with Monash but also their own research outputs.

We are particularly happy to present Professor Adam Lee, Alliance Professor of Sustainable Chemical Synthesis, who is one of the first Alliance-funded academics who has appointed jointly at both Monash and Warwick. Prof Lee, and his colleagues Professors Thomas Davis and Sébastien Perrier (both Chemistry), will split their time between the UK and Australia and their presence at both institutions will help develop integrated research units able to utilise the resources of the two universities to achieve transformative outcomes.

Professor Lee will discuss how he sees his role as a jointly appointed staff member as advancing his research plans and what drew him to accept such a challenging position.

Joining Professor Lee will be other academics, including Professor Noel Whiteside (Sociology), who will talk about what Alliance funding has meant to their research.

Additionally, the Research Colloquium will offer interested staff the chance to learn more about what possibilities Alliance funding can open up for them. With the next deadline for the Alliance Seed Fund on 31 October, this event will provide the opportunity to ask questions about the Seed Fund application procedure of past recipients and members of the Alliance’s Project Operations Team.
