Warwick alumnus contributes £500,000 to launch new scholarship programme in Artificial Intelligence

A generous donation by Warwick alumnus, Jonathan Feuer has resulted in the creation of a prestigious new scholarship programme.

The recently launched Feuer International Scholarships in Artificial Intelligence (AI) will create a group of academically brilliant and world-leading MPhil/PhD researchers who will go on to have careers in the field of AI. Their challenge will be to explore the world’s toughest problems and deliver research that impacts both theoretical and applied solutions.

The programme will be based in the new Mathematical Sciences building with successful candidates given the opportunity to collaborate with Warwick Turing Fellows. They will also work alongside the world’s sharpest minds in data science and artificial intelligence at the Alan Turing Institute and have access to industry partners and mentoring, with the potential to explore investment opportunities for their projects.

Professor Pamela Thomas, Pro Vice Chancellor (Research) and Professor of Physics at Warwick and a member of the Alan Turing Institute Board of Trustees said:

AI is driving advancements in the fields of engineering, technology, defence and security, financial services, health and wellbeing. Researchers at Warwick are behind many of these exciting developments. The students who are awarded Feuer International Scholarships in AI will have access to some of the brightest minds in the field. We are delighted to launch the programme and deliver such an exciting opportunity for our students.”

Professor Stephen Jarvis, Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor (Research) at Warwick, and a member of the Alan Turing Institute Programme Committee said:

The Feuer International Scholarships in AI creates an amazing opportunity for young people who want to excel in this field. The lucky recipients will have an incredible start to their career; generous funding, exciting research projects, the chance to engage with the Turing Institute, not to mention the prestige attached. We are very excited to launch the programme and are grateful to Jonathan for making it happen."
