New investment in Teaching and Learning Facilities

Warwick announces £20m investment in teaching and learning facilities including a new £15m teaching and learning buildingLearningcentre

The University has announced that it is to invest £20 million in new teaching and learning facilities including £15 million for the first phase of a new teaching and learning Centre.

At the last meeting of Council the University agreed a proposal to construct a new £15m teaching and learning centre. The building will be located close to the heart of campus on Tocil Field and will be the first phase of a multi-phase development.

Warwick’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Nigel Thrift said:

This £20 million investment, generated out of the University’s own surplus, will benefit all our students, creating a significant teaching and learning facility on our campus, and enhancing many current teaching spaces.”

Estates Director Bob Wilson, said:

The heart of the facility will be a 450+ seat Lecture Theatre together with a suite of seminar Rooms. “Skywall” partitioning will allow the rooms to be divided when required or combined to provide a variety of configurations, with the focus on quality of provision and the latest technology.”

Construction on the new £15 million teaching and learning centre, subject to planning permission, should start later this year and the first phase should be complete by late 2015. A further £4 million is to be spent on enhancing our current lecture theatres and another million pounds has been set aside for at least one other teaching infrastructure project that will be announced shortly.
