Success at National Student Drama Festival
The Babysitter. Photo: Peter Marsh / ashmorevisualsWarwick's students have impressed audiences and judges at the National Student Drama Festival 2013, picking up a number of awards including the Festgoers' Award and a commendation for ensemble work.
Warwick University Drama Society's (WUDS) production of the play Pornography was well received at the annual festival, held in Scarborough from 23-29 March 2013.
The play provoked some lively discussions both in the daily Q&A sessions and the festival magazine, Noises Off. Undergraduate Joseph Henshaw took home the award for audiovisual design for his work on the production.
InDepth Theatre Company, based at Warwick, produced Breman Rajkumar's new comedy The Babysitter, about epilepsy, politics and adulthood. The team received four awards: Sunday Times Playwriting Award, Director's Guild Award for Direction, a commendation for Ensemble Work, and the Festgoers Award, voted for by audiences.
Dan Hutton, English and Theatre Studies student and President of WUDS, won the Harold Hobson Award for Theatre Criticism.
