Open Access updates since April 2013

The Wellcome Trust (WT) Open Access (OA) policy has been updated, and comes into effect on Tuesday 1 October 2013 for new grant holders (October 2014 for existing grant holders). This mandate now includes monographs and book chapters, meaning those publications must be made Open Access.

The Research Councils UK (RCUK) policy went live on 1 April 2013, and includes journal articles and conference proceedings. The RCUK funding for this year is still available on a first-come-first served basis. More information is available online.

The Higher Education Funding Council for England consultation on Open Access for the post-2014 REF is now open. The University deadline for submissions is Wednesday 18 September. For more information visit the latest Open Access news and information section.
