The University wishes PC Mick Parkes a very happy retirement from his post as campus policeman today. However, we'll still see Mick on campus, as he'll be returning in August as a security officer.

During his four and a half years as Warwick bobby, Mick has been a popular and well-regarded member of the University community. Mick is responsible for the introducing the bike registration scheme to Warwick and for setting up the cycle recycling scheme on campus. Tonight, he retires after 30 years in the West Midlands Police.

Mark Kennell, Head of Security Services said:

Since Mick has been with us, he has provided outstanding support and advice across all departments. He has a naturally approachable and helpful attitude, which has made it really easy for us to work in partnership with the local police. This, combined with an extensive knowledge of the criminal justice system and a very clear understanding about how the University works, has made his role here even more important. He is part of the University community and will remain so, hopefully for several years, when he takes up his new role as a Security Officer from August!’

New campus police
