Pro-VC for research Pam Thomas highlights importance of data quality in THE

A task force established by the government and chaired by Professor Pam Thomas, Warwick’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) has called for greater efforts to ensure data quality in a new report.

In the Times Higher Education article published this week Pam said that,

It’s important to discuss what data should be made open and to what extent should it be verifiable and have gone through quality checks before it’s put up for other people to use. What we want to start with is verifiable data that has, in some sense, been validated as a useful, well-collected dataset that doesn’t have major flaws.”

The report, Research data infrastructures in the UK is the first stage of the project and will be followed by a road map report setting out the direction of travel and milestones towards a useful, achievable and affordable set of expected behaviours making research data more open over the next decade.

As Pro Vice Chancellor for Research Pam works across Warwick’s departments to maintain our research excellence. Pam oversees departmental and inter-faculty developments, and heads the University’s efforts to generate the impact our research deserves.
