It is with great sadness that the University and its School of Engineering reports the death of undergraduate student Rowan Pearce on Thursday 12 December 2013. Rowan was studying the third year of his BEng degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering.

He was an intelligent and hardworking student “who will be remembered for his enthusiasm, cheerfulness and infectious smile” said his project supervisor, Howard Neal. His personal tutor, Yongmann Chung, added that “Rowan was always a kind and considerate student; he touched the lives of those close to him and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.” Warwick’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nigel Thrift, said “I know that this news will bring great sadness to a great many people as Rowan was a popular student who had many friends within the School and the wider University.”

Our thoughts are with Rowan’s family and friends at this time. He will be sadly missed.
