Dr Simon Yuill Visiting Fellow at CIM

CIM has been awarded with funding to host Dr Simon Yuill as a visiting fellow on 13-17 May 2013.

Simon Yuill has been trained in art, music and philosophy, and taught himself programming. He works as an artist, writer and a freelance software developer.

Simon has won many prestigious awards for his scholarly and artistic work, including the Vilém Flusser Media Theory Award for his essay All Problems of Notation Will be Solved by The Masses (2008, Transmediale Festival for digital culture, Berlin), a BAFTA Best Interactive Media Award (Scotland, 2004) and a Scottish Arts Council Creative Scotland Award (2007).

His project spring_alpha is regarded as a pioneering example of innovative Free Software related arts practice, and has been featured in a number of exhibitions including the Arts Council of England's Collaboration and freedom – the world of free and open source art (2011).

You can simply turn up to all events except for the Monday DTC workshop where bookings can be made online. Most events are free. There is a charge for the Arts Centre event on the Tuesday £5.50 (£3.50).
